Market Fest is proud to offer the opportunity for the area’s most talented residents to show their skills at the 2024 Market Fest at 5th Street Public Market! Singers, dancers, musicians, performers of all kinds, and all ages are welcome. Interested parties must submit the attached application by Friday, June 7th to be considered by the Market Fest Entertainment Committee.  Selected applicants will be offered a 30–45-minute spot to perform in front of attendees from all over the state. The Community Performances will begin to take place on Friday, Aug. 23rd from 5pm to 8pm through Sat. Aug 24th from 12:30pm to 8pm.

Application Guidelines

•       Applications submitted to perform at the 2024 Market Fest must be approved by the Market Fest Entertainment Committee.
•       Each performing group must have a separate application; multiple groups under one name will not be accepted.
•       All applications must be filled out completely, including links to performance video to be accepted.
•       Applications are due Friday, June 7, 2024; upon submission of a completed application, notice will be sent to confirm receipt.

All applicants who have submitted an application by June 7, 2024, will be notified by email no later than Friday, June 21st whether or not the application has been accepted for the 2024 Market Fest Community performances. Applicants not chosen to perform will be placed on a “waiting list”. Vacant time slots will be filled with applicants on the waiting list and performances will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance and further instructions will be provided in that notice. Applications received after June 7th will automatically be placed on the waiting list.

Selection Criteria

Each application will be considered by the Market Fest Entertainment Committee based on the following factors:

•       Timely receipt of a completed application
•       Appropriateness of performance for our festival audience
•       Uniqueness and appeal of performance
•       Overall presentation of application and promotional material


Booking Information

Acts chosen to perform will be contacted via email to confirm acceptance. Upon acceptance, further instructions will be provided to each applicant with regards to scheduling.

Please Note: Flexible availability is recommended as time slots fill quickly on weekend and at peak times. Once booked, further information will be provided regarding performance logistics, as well as a map and parking information.

Cancellations

If selected applicants need to cancel after already being scheduled, please notify the festival manager immediately so the time slot can be filled from the waiting list.

Performance Policies & Evaluations

Market Fest is a family event. Attire and image of all performers, as well as content of performance, must be family friendly. Festival Management has the right to monitor sound levels and make adjustments at its sole discretion. In an attempt to produce a quality, attractive, family-oriented experience for our patrons, and to determine future eligibility to perform, all performances are evaluated during the course of the festival. It is the performance group director’s responsibility to inform all performers of the impact these evaluations have on future participation at 5th Street Public Market.

These evaluations are based on the following criteria:

•       Timely arrival of group and adherence to scheduled time
•       Organization of the group
•       Attitude and professionalism of performers and directors
•       Adherence to performance rules & regulations, along with general Market Fest rules & regulations
•       Overall performance
•       Audience response

 

Prohibited Items & Activities

•       Offensive or inappropriate language, including profanity
•       Depictions of pornographic, lewd, or obscene images
•       Any material that promotes or depicts sexual, racial, or religious harassment or discrimination
•       Pyrotechnics or weapons of any kind, including martial arts weapons
•       Items are NOT to be thrown from the stage into the audience
•       Steps will be used to gain access to the stage; no jumping from the stage to the ground will be permitted

•       No alcoholic beverages are allowed on stage or in the staging area.

 

Facilities & Time Allocation

 

All shows must adhere to the following parameters:

•       Show Director must check in with Market Fest Stage Manager 20 minutes prior to scheduled performance
•       15 minutes to set up; your designated show director must be prepared to meet with Festival Sound Engineer at that time
•       30-45 minutes to perform
•       15 minutes to break down & exit

 

 Market Fest will provide:

•       Space
•       Professional Sound System & Sound Engineer (Technician)
•       Wired/Wireless Microphones & Stands
•       Power source

 

Performers will need to bring:

•       Instruments/Backline
•       All Props
•       Costumes (must be adhered to the body; dance groups are encouraged to use flesh-colored body suits under costumes for quick changes)
•       Music (if needed) – can be played via CD, Laptop, or smartphone/tablet on airplane mode; please assign a member of your group to start/stop music
